Where grassroots meets greatness: The CrossFit Open at 57North
Described as ‘where grassroots meets greatness’, the CrossFit Games Open is a yearly event where CrossFitters across the globe compete against thousands of their peers in five workouts over five weeks. As always, 57North got stuck in!
57North athletes were judged alongside their friends (who are often also rivals!) with fellow members cheering them on. Like previous years, there was a great atmosphere in the Box, with many members surprising themselves with PBs or reflecting on how they could improve and setting goals for the next year of training.
This Open, we’ve asked our members to share their experiences with us. From Fiona, who’s only been doing CrossFit for six months, and Finlay, who tells us about his first Open, to Naomi, who was competing in her second Open, and Ian, who placed an impressive 316th in the Europe Central region. Click on the links to see what they loved and hated, and how they hope to progress over the next year to the 2019 Open.
What is clear to see from Fiona, Finlay, Naomi and Ian’s blog posts, and from everyone else at the Box, is that taking part is a great way to challenge yourself, identify your strengths and weaknesses, set new goals and, most importantly, have fun!
We hope their experiences encourage you to get training! Interested in learning more about CrossFit and how you can get involved? Drop us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org or check out our Facebook and Instagram pages. See you at the CrossFit Open 2019!
